Mechanically Guided. Surgically Trusted.
Accurate, disposable intramedullary goniometer for precise bone alignment during total knee arthroplasty.
What is IntrAlign?
IntrAlign is affordable, disposable intramedullary goniometer developed to assist surgeons during total knee arthroplasty. Designed for precision and simplicity, it delivers ±1° angular accuracy without the need for complex robotic systems. Its modular design enables universal compatibility with multiple commercial knee replacement systems, making it a versatile solution for a wide range of surgical settings.

Our history
Designed with a universal fit in mind, IntrAlign is built to work with multiple commercial knee replacement systems, making it practical across a wide range of surgical settings.
The vision for IntrAlign began with Dr. Carlos Lavernia, an orthopedic surgeon dedicated to improving surgical outcomes in underserved communities. Seeing the challenges that many low-resource hospitals face, especially the lack of affordable tools for precise bone alignment, Dr. Lavernia proposed a simple yet effective alternative: an affordable, disposable intramedullary goniometer for total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
Our team of biomedical engineering students at Florida International University took this challenge and brought it to life. Through months of research, design iterations, and close collaboration, we developed a mechanical solution that delivers ±1° cutting accuracy, all without the complexity or cost of robotic systems.
IntrAlign is more than just a device; it’s a step toward surgical equity, bringing precision and reliability to every operating room, no matter the resources.
